The East High Wildcats looked forward to summer fun but got drama instead.
Troy and Gabriella's relationship gets the romance/drama treatment in this movie, with Troy acting a bigger jerk than he was in the first movie. And the two characters have gone past "sweet".
Sharpay is at the root of everything as usual, and her attempts to steal Troy from Gabriella and the wildcats cause her twin brother to break away from her. The Evans twins still provide a lot of laughs in this movie.
The story centers more on Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan, that we see less of the rest of the cast ... and yet they are more involved in the singing here.
The dance numbers have become a bit more complicated here, and the music as a whole isn't as memorable as that in the first movie. There are a couple of gems that are better than any of the music from High School Musical 1 like "You are the Music in Me" and "Gotta Go My Own Way".
